A COLLABORATIVE PROJECT WITH THE INSTITUT FÜR NEUE MUSIK AT THE HOCHSCHULE FÜR MUSIK UND TANZ, COLOGNE.
Adventure is the name of the long-term collaboration between the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (Cologne Conservatory of Music and Dance) and Ensemble Musikfabrik, largely financed by the Ministerium für Kultur und Wissenschaft des Landes NRW (Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia). As part of Adventure, composition students from the classes of Prof. Michael Beil, Prof. Brigitta Muntendorf, and Prof. Miroslav Srnka work intensively with the soloists of the Ensemble Musikfabrik on new compositions. This collaborative project ensures not only a mutual learning process over an extended period but also allows for the exploration of different formats or projects that can extend beyond the usual framework over several semesters. The resulting connections between generations of musicians and composers have an impact on the future.
The diverse opportunities presented by this dialogue are evident in world premieres featuring various ensembles, ranging from solo performances and chamber music to large ensembles. The artistic engagement includes electronics, lighting, video, vocals, and spatial elements. Numerous videos have been produced – some during the COVID-19 pandemic and others as concert documentation from the concert hall of the HfMT. These videos sustainably document the collaboration.
Artistic direction: Prof. Brigitta Muntendorf, Prof. Michael Beil, Thomas Fichter
