Lockdown Tape #6 features cime lointaine for oboe by Violeta Dinescu, recorded by Peter Veale. On the blog he tells you about why this piece is very special to him.
Voilà!
Violeta Dinescu’s cime lointaine (distant summits) is a piece that I encountered at the beginning of the 90’s, and which I found to be exquisitely sensitive. In a most refined and natural way, it utilizes timbral nuances that are very poetic. With oscillating key-trills, bisbigliandi and expressive multiphonics, one is transported into a delicate, exciting and extraordinarily diverse world of sound.
Two years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Violeta personally in Oldenburg where we had a concert with Studio Musikfabrik.
