Playing pizzicato on the double bass

Our double bass player Florentin Ginot explains his personal pizzicato technique in this new video tutorial. For this style of play you don’t need a bow, you just use your hands to pluck the strings.

„The technique was developed among others by Stefano Scodanibbio, double bass player and composer. You can find it for example in the Sequenza XIVb by Luciano Berio in his transcription for double bass. This is a very useful example of notation if you want to write it down“, said Florentin about the technique he is presenting. By showing examples he is illustrating the different steps to create for instance rhythmic patterns or four sound chords.

Have a look and enjoy the examples he is giving.
