Ulrich Löffler completed his piano studies at the Folkwang Hochschule, Essen. As a soloist, he has performed with the Bavarian Radio and SWR Symphony Orchestras, among others, and has been a guest at international festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and Ars Musica Brussels.
Löffler is a prizewinner of the Darmstadt International Summer Courses for New Music. As a founding member, he has performed with Ensemble Musikfabrik since 1990 at all international festivals, such as the Biennale di Venezia, the Berliner Festspiele and the Donaueschinger Musiktage. As a docent Ulrich Löffler teaches 1998 – 2003 at the Folkwang University of the Arts Essen in the context of the Master’s program New Music.
His involvement with analog keyboards and synthesizers from the 60s, 70s and early 80s in the context of improvisation projects and concerts with jazz and rock bands sparks the curiosity of younger composers in particular and leads to the expansion of the keyboard instrument spectrum within composed contemporary music in new works.
