The video features\u00a0Henry Cowell<\/strong>‘s\u00a0Aeolian Harp\u00a0<\/em>(1923) played live to tape by\u00a0Ulrich L\u00f6ffler<\/strong>. This early composition was one of the first piano pieces to use extended techniques\u00a0on the\u00a0piano\u00a0that included plucking and sweeping the pianist’s hands directly across the strings of the piano.<\/p>\n

An aeolian harp (also wind harp) is a musical instrument, which essentially consists of a wooden box with a soundboard the strings of which are stretched in the longitudinal direction over two bridges are.
