Born in 1986, Maxime Morel grew up in the north of France, in the tradition of workers’ and miners’ wind bands, which is deeply rooted in the history of this region. After three years of Solf\u00e8ge (without being allowed to pick up any instrument!), he started learning the tuba at the age of ten.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have always had a deep appreciation for low-pitched sounds. As a child, I developed a particular fondness for Mozart\u2019s Bassoon Concerto. Of course I wanted to play the bassoon, but unfortunately, there was no bassoon teacher available in the music school. However, fate intervened when I overheard the tuba teacher playing the Mozart Bassoon Concerto on the tenor tuba \u2013 it was love at first sound.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a few years at the Lille Conservatoire, where he studied with Gabriel Capet, he continued to study tuba, chamber music and free improvisation at the Conservatoire de Paris with G\u00e9rard Buquet, amongst others.<\/p>\n

\u201cLooking back, I believe that my inherent curiosity and willingness to try new things have been the driving forces behind my musical exploration. Ultimately, it is the chance encounters with others that have enriched my experiences and shaped my artistic identity. I\u2019m fascinated by people who are convinced of what they do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maxime has performed with many French national orchestras and is a member of numerous groups such as Muzzix, Le Balcon, Spat\u2019Sonore, as well as many appearances with voQue\/rebotier. As a member of Le Balcon, he participated in Donnerstag, Samstag and Dienstag aus LICHT by Karlheinz Stockhausen, and in the improvised opera Au c\u0153ur de l\u2019oc\u00e9an. He teaches at the conservatoire of the VIIIth arrondissements of Paris.<\/p>\n

Since 2022 Maxime Morel is a member of the Ensemble Musikfabrik.<\/p>\n <\/div>\r\n
