Campus Musikfabrik

2015 marked the beginning of Ensemble Musikfabrik's new and self-initiated program for creative research and skill enhancement: CAMPUS MUSIKFABRIK

Just like a traditional university campus, CAMPUS MUSIKFABRIK is a place to discover and explore various disciplines. The ensemble is inviting internationally renown musicians, composers, choreographers, visual artists and scholars to multi-day workshops, in order to learn from them and work on new collaborations, coming together for a number of campus periods every year.

Previously developed projects can be elaborated and expanded upon through this future-orientated, multi-disciplined cooperation, but the main focus is the development of new concepts and performance formats. A residency program is also being planned for young conductors and composers, in order to facilitate long term collaborations.

The ensemble's musicians have the opportunity not only to share their knowledge, but to develop it further, as the workshops and trainings are open for them as well.

The Musikfabrik sound studio is also available for recordings and the production of documentation materials.

The symposiums of CAMPUS MUSIKFABRIK provide a forum for discussion about newly gained insights, developing projects and any other resulting topics of interest.

Through a diverse blend of educational and training programs directed towards not only up-and-coming young instrumentalists, conductors and composers, but also curious youth and adults of all backgrounds - including the ensemble itself - CAMPUS MUSIKFABRIK is open and available for all.

Campus Musikfabrik took place for the first time in January, 2015 - our focal point were Partch's instruments. Since then numerous cooperations with composers, artists, choreographers etc. like Liza Lim, Massimo Furlan, Frank Scheffer, Georges Aperhis, Xavier Le Roy, Claudia Molitor, Rebecca Saunders, Mouse on Mars and Dave Hotep have been started and developed in Campus Musikfabrik.

The next round will take place in December 2016 and connect different musical traditions and professions with the ensemble, such as musicians and composers Siamak Jahangiri, Yasamin Shahosseini, Ehsan Ebrahimi, Bijan Tavili und Farzia Fallah from Tehran, students from Robert Schuhmann Hochschule Düsseldorf, and Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Cologne as well as composers, Rebecca Saunders, Frank Pahl, and Richard Barrett.

Public events will be published in our calendar.

Campus Musikfabrik is sponsored by the Arts Foundation of North-Rhine Westphalia.
